This last weekend I had the joy of attending the Northwest Blacksmith Association’s spring conference, held in Enumclaw Washington. It was the first blacksmithing conference that I’ve attended. All in all it was a really great activity. There were several presenters and several different classes you could sign up for. The class roster is determined from a lottery drawing of everyone that is interested. I was selected for the hands on Fly Press class and had a good time using a fly press for the first time. I watched a part of a tong making class, and even though I wasn’t in the class, I sure got a lot out of it. Friday and Saturday night there were open forges, and it was a nice way to get to meet folks that enjoy forging. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

I definitely plan on attending again!
